Chief Engineer Structures SE USA $90-110,000 24 Aug 2010

One of my Aerospace clients in the Southeast seeks: Chief Engineer, Structures
While they have not yet provided me with a salary target or range. its my opinion
that a reasonable estimate is $80-110 base or more, plus benefits. This person
should be willing to live in or relocate within an area bounded by Corpus Christi,
Nashville, Greenville SC, Richmond, and down the east coast to Miami,
Tampa, Pensacola, New Orleans and back to Corpus.

POSITION SUMMARY: Direct and lead structural analysis, design, materials and processes,
and structural test personnel on new product development and certification programs. Define all
structural components of aircraft with CAD models and released drawings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensure completion of all structural analysis and testing, including
safety, test fixtures, and data acquisition. Hire, supervise and lead structural analysis, design,
M&P, structural test engineers and delegate tasks to engineers and others as required.

Ensures completion of structural certification plan and all certification documentation/reports
required to show compliance with FAA or Foreign regulations. Assist in ensuring compliance
with the applicable regulations covering the structural strength, crash protection, interiors,
basic loads, weight balance, stress analysis, static test, dynamic test, fatigue analysis/assessment,
and evaluation of the processes and fabrication methods to produce the aircraft structure.
Ensure that structural design meets the cost and weight targets as established for the program.
Review drawings, specifications, and preliminary designs for compliance with applicable regulations.

Provide leadership, guidance, and assistance to structural design and analysis engineers
in the interpretation of the Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) and in stress analysis methods.
Develop project schedules and budgets, then ensure the structural design and certification of
new products is completed on time and within budget. Perform other related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include supervision, training, and
assisting employees.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires BSME BSAE BSCE Mechanical, Aerospace or
Structural / Civil Engineering, and minimum of 12 years experience in structural analyses,
test and design. Qualifications for an FAA designated engineering representative desired.
Prior leadership of more than ten persons in a senior leadership role is required.

Experience on new aircraft development projects is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge
of Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 21 and 23 and related Joint Aviation Requirement (JAR),
and Civil Aviation Authority (CAR) 3; and experience with formal stress analysis techniques and
methodologies are necessary to perform the duties of this position.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively
with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
