One of my clients seeks immediately: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Senior Mechanical Engineer should have 10+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities. The candidate must be able to lead the development of mechanical products assuming full responsibility for execution of activities including costing/scheduling, design, analysis, and engineering documentation. The candidate should demonstrate leadership capabilities.

Extensive experience with design and selection of machine elements used in precision drive mechanisms including bearings, gearboxes, position sensors, and servomotors is required. The candidate must also be familiar with fabrication and integration of positioning systems and be able to optimize designs for manufacturing. A background in machine tool design would be highly desirable.

Analytical skills should include a working knowledge of classical strength of materials, static and dynamic equilibrium analysis encompassing inertial, stress, thermal and deflection based design considerations. The candidate should have a working knowledge of aluminum and steel weldment design practice with an understanding of human safety factors.

Familiarity with product safety certification process, including CE marking is a plus. Required computer skills include solid modeling, 3D CAD (SolidWorks) with drawing generation and analysis tools like as COSMOS or Algor. Must be PC literate and able to use MS Office products. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will have a strong aptitude for problem solving with good organizational skills. The candidate must be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to mentor junior team members.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years experience in a machine design/fabrication environment. Experience should include: Solid modeling and generation of detail drawings with Bills of Material Designing welded steel and aluminum structures Designing drive systems (servomotors, position sensors, gearboxes, controllers) Demonstrable understanding of mechanics of materials as it is applied to the design and selection of machine elements Understanding of precision machine shop and welding practices Hands-on installation of mechanical products Leadership of product development teams

Preferred: Knowledge of finite element structural analysis, including calculations of stresses, safety margins, buckling margins and modal analysis

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent PE Certification a plus
