One of my SE aerospace clients seeks a Lead Engineer in Structural Test

SUMMARY: Design and perform all structural tests necessary for development
and certification of new products. Ensure all structural components conform to
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and corporate
requirements of structural integrity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Organize and review all structural test activities
within the structural analysis group. Perform structural tests for all major and minor
structural elements of the program. Delegate job assignments related to structural tests to
engineers and technicians as required. Assist with hiring and leading of structural test
personnel. Lead the design all test fixtures required to perform structural testing.
Procure and maintain proper operation of data acquisition systems, sensors, and equipment.

Ensure safety of personnel during all structural testing, setup, and modification.
Assist in preparation of FAA required aircraft type certification reports showing compliance
with the proper FAA or Foreign regulations on all structural components. Provide leadership,
guidance, and assistance to structural test and associate engineers in the interpretation of
the Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) and in structural testing methods. Review drawings,
specifications, service bulletins, reports, etc. for compliance with applicable regulations.
Perform other related duties as required.

Responsibilities include supervision, training, and assisting employees.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical
or Aerospace Engineering, and minimum ten years experience in structural testing of
aircraft, or ten years combined aircraft structural analysis, design, and test experience.
Qualifications for an FAA/Delegation Option Authorization (DOA) certification engineer
are desired. Prior leadership of structural design personnel is required.
Experience on new aircraft development projects is preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 21 and 23, related
Joint Aviation Requirement (JAR), and Civil Aviation Authority (CAR) 3; familiarity with
structural analysis methodologies; and experience in Finite Element analysis and modeling,
structural repair and MRBs are necessary to perform the duties of this position.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: The employee must possess the ability to communicate
effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to deal with personnel
situations. Considerable management skills are required to successfully perform the
planning, directing, reporting and administrative responsibilities of this position.
